Who said you could only celebrate this year’s Valentine’s day on Thursday? Experience the love Milwaukee has to give all month, though a series of restaurants with to dishes to die for, special activities and weekend events, and café and bars with festive drinks. Whether you’re prolonging the holiday of love, or just want to get out of the house, try one of these Milwaukee hot spots for your next fun date.

Ideas for Foodies:

The Public Market:

With 18 vendors of different food and drink options, The Public Market is a hit for everyone! From a sit down sea food dinner at St. Paul’s Fish Market, to grabbing a smoothie on the go from On the Bus, these are just some of the great vendors to check out and celebrate date night.

In the mood for something sweet? Kehr’s Candies, open since 1930, offers a variety of hand-dipped chocolates. Kher’s also offers gummies, hard candies, candy apples, and so much more. Pick out a box of chocolates for you and your loved one and enjoy it as you ponder the rest of the market. Candy not doing the trick? C. Adam’s Bakery has over 100 variations of baked goods including pies, cookies, cakes, and pastries. They even have Valentines themed baked goods. Check them out this weekend while they last!

Food Outside the Market:

Dorsia:

This Italian restaurant is not like the rest. Dorsia, located on Brady Street transformed what pasta means with their pasta flights served on a wood board. Pasta Flights work Just like a beer flight. Choose up to four pastas from the menu and try a variety of them at the restaurant. This is the perfect spot for a quiet and romantic dinner.

Cantina:

A newer Mexican restaurant located downtown, Cantina is the place to be on a Friday or Saturday night. For a fusion of world flavors try some of their bistro tacos (with so many unique options to choose from.) Cantina is also known for their house margaritas including their special 100 oz. margarita tower. If you’re in the mood to try something bold this weekend, try Cantina.

Snack Boys:

Not too hungry? Head over to Snack Boys a fun, young atmosphere restaurant famous for their unusual concoctions of foods and classic appetizers that will take you back to your childhood. Snack Boy’s menu offers items from tater tots and caviar to warm cookies served with a glass of milk. Forget fancy food, enjoy a night out eating finger food.

Splash Studio:

Get in touch with your creative side by signing up for a Splash Studio painting class, known as “the best painting and drinking experience in Milwaukee.” (Splash Studio) Sign up for group painting projects, where you can participate in 2-hour wood projects for $35, or group 3-hour canvas projects for $30. Or don’t sweat scheduling a class, do a drop in self-guided painting featuring 6x6 canvas paints for $15, 11 x 14 canvas paintings for $20, and 7.25 X 12 wood paintings for $25. Pick your canvas and pick your drink, the fun continues from there. Check out the new location at 1815 E Kenilworth Place this weekend for ‘Red Hot Love Fest’, partner paintings that are valentines themed. Compete with your partner and see who’s a better painter, or maybe who’s just better at drinking. This makes for the perfect date night.

AXE MKE:

Release some steam by grabbing a drink and throwing some Axe’s (with your partner, not at them). Friday’s and Saturday’s are the hottest days to go throw an axe at just $25 for a 60-minute throwing session. This may just be the perfect date to forget about the crazy week. The release of tension just might make you and your partner closer together.

Brewery Tours:

What better way to show some love in Milwaukee than to go on a brewery tour with your partner? Enjoy Beer while learning the history of Milwaukee and how it got its nickname “the brew city.” Take turns trying your partner’s beer and sharing love though many cheers.

After Dinner & Night Life Activities:

MAM after dark: Glitz & Glam – February 15th, 2019

Experience the Milwaukee Art Museum after closing time with their after dark night tonight. Have a fancy night out with your partner enjoying the glitz and glam theme featuring chocolates, French wines, and champagne, along with music from a local harpist. Capture the night with the front room photo booth, and at your leisure enjoy the first showing of the Bougeuerau & America exhibition. 1983 Arcade

With 35 arcade classic games including 7 pinball machines, bubble hockey, and rotating bi monthly games, the 1983 Arcade will have you and your partner feeling like a kid again. Up Down:

The Pabst Theater:

Join the Milwaukee Ballet this weekend with a special featured performance “Genesis 2019”- an international choreographic competition. This weekend there are show times on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm, and Sunday at 2:00.

The Oriental Theater:

Hop on over to the east side to see what events and shows are happening this weekend. This Friday the Oriental will host the annual “Unicorn Love party” a wild ‘Cirque Du Soleil’ experience with a twist. Saturday at the Oriental will feature “the Big Steve Hour Live”, a music show featuring Steve Parish.
